5 Things to Know About Chelsea Clinton's Fiancé Marc Mezvinsky

5 Things to Know About Chelsea Clinton’s Fiancé Marc Mezvinsky

Posted on 29 Jul 2010 at 7:33pm

As the final countdown to the wedding this weekend begins, let us welcome to the Clinton family, Marc Mezvinsky!

But who is this guy marrying former first daughter Chelsea Clinton, 30 – and can he keep up with the Clintons? Here are five things to know about the businessman.

He works on Wall Street
The Stanford alum – like Chelsea – means business: he currently works at the hedge fund G3 Capital. Before that, he was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. This meshes well with Clinton’s former job at Avenue Capital Group.

Politics is in his blood, too
He’s the son of former U.S. congressman Edward Mezvinsky and former U.S. congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, who also once ran for Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania. Interestingly, Congresswoman Mezvinsky was the deciding vote in passing President Clinton’s then-controversial Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act.

His dad went to prison
Despite his public service, in 2001 Mezvinsky’s dad pleaded guilty to 31 counts of fraud, involving almost $10 million. He was released from federal prison in 2008.

He’s Jewish
Clinton’s fiancé, who is Jewish, will invite another religious perspective into the family. (Hillary Clinton is Methodist, while the former President is Southern Baptist.) No word yet if Chelsea’s converting, but she did attend Yom Kippur services with Marc in 2009 at New York’s Jewish Theological Seminary, according to the Associated Press.

He hit it off with Bill
The father of the bride’s opinion always matters – especially when your future in-law is Bill Clinton. And Bill seems to be as head-over-heels as Chelsea: “He is great,” the former president said in December, as he left a panel discussion at Columbia University. “He is a great human being.”

Alex Beh: Jennifer Love Hewitt’s New Boyfriend?

Posted on 29 Jul 2010 at 7:30pm

Jennifer Love Hewitt has reportedly found herself a new man. Sources tell Us Weekly she is dating actor/director Alex Beh, 27.

“She’s so into him,” a source said. “It’s relatively new. But they’re really cute together. They were holding hands the whole night!”

Alex’s tagline on his MySpace page is “never settle” and his relationship status is single. He lists dozens of favorite movies, including ‘Lost in Translation,’ ‘Manhattan,’ ‘Amelie’ and ‘Little Miss Sunshine.’ ‘Can’t Hardly Wait’ didn’t make the cut.

Jennifer, 31, split from Jamie Kennedy in March after a yearlong relationship. She was reportedly dating actor/director John Asher, Jenny McCarthy’s ex-husband, in April.

Jon Hamm in 'Parade': 'I Don't Have The Marriage Chip'

Jon Hamm in ‘Parade’: ‘I Don’t Have The Marriage Chip’

Posted on 29 Jul 2010 at 7:29pm

Jon Hamm covers this weekend’s Parade magazine, and in the interview he talks about his parents, his childhood and how he doesn’t plan to marry Jennifer Westfeldt, his longtime girlfriend and the “love of his life.” Here are some excerpts, read a longer preview here.

At a party in 1997, he met Westfeldt, best known for co-writing and starring in the 2001 comedy Kissing Jessica Stein. Later he helped her rehearse lines for an audition.
“She didn’t get the part, which may be my fault, but she got the guy.”

Why they’re not in a hurry to get married.
“I don’t have the marriage chip, and neither of us have the greatest examples of marriages in our families. But Jen is the love of my life, and we’ve already been together four times longer than my parents were married.”

Nor is he rushing to have children.
“I like kids but I also like the option to close the door. Becoming a parent is a whole other life, and it doesn’t stop.”

How he and Westfeldt deal with the attention he gets as a sex symbol.
“That kind of stuff is only present if you give it attention. If it’s not reflected back, it goes away. It’s not like I’m Justin Bieber or anything.”

President Obama Keeping Up with Lindsay Lohan's Legal Woes

President Obama Keeping Up with Lindsay Lohan’s Legal Woes

Posted on 29 Jul 2010 at 7:28pm

Between fielding questions about the economy, Afghanistan, and racial tensions in the U.S., President Barack Obama got down to the important stuff on The View Thursday: the alleged rants of Mel Gibson, the jail term of Lindsay Lohan and Jersey Shore’s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi – and the burning question of should she run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.

Quizzed by Joy Behar in a “lightening” round, Obama was asked if he knew if Lohan is in jail. “I actually know that, yes,” the President responded.

But Snooki stumped him. “Should Snooki run as mayor of Wasilla?” Behar asked. Obama, laughing, responded, “I gotta admit, I don’t know who Snooki is.”

On his final question, the Chief Executive was thrown – or simply being diplomatic – when Behar inquired if he thought Gibson needs “anger management.”

“I … I …,” the President stuttered and then joked, “Let me answer the Afghanistan question!” He informed the panel he “hadn’t seen the tapes.”

Obama, who has two young daughters, Sasha and Malia, said he’d met Justin Bieber and thought he was “a very nice young man.”

On a more serious note, the President discussed unemployment with the conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck and racism with Whoopi Goldberg. Ultimately, he said, he remains optimistic the economy will improve, and acknowledged that “I’m not perfect, my administration’s not perfect.”

Obama also touched on the fact he was not invited to Chelsea Clinton’s wedding and said that when the time comes he also intends to keep Sasha and Malia’s weddings private – and therefore probably wouldn’t be inviting any of the ladies on The View.

Zac Efron Visits Strip Club – After Getting Vanessa Hudgens's Permission

Zac Efron Visits Strip Club – After Getting Vanessa Hudgens’s Permission

Posted on 29 Jul 2010 at 7:26pm

Zac Efron’s recent guys’ night out at a strip club didn’t exactly exceed his expectations.

“I had this image of what it would be like. I’ve heard a lot about these places, mostly from rap music. So I envisioned myself on a nice couch, stunna shades, with like T-Pain and Usher, you know, making it rain money,” he said Wednesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “And it just wasn’t like that that.”

Instead, he was just like any other patron at Flashdancers Gentlemen’s Club in N.Y.C. over the weekend. With High School Musical costar Corbin Bleu and another pal in tow, the group stayed for four hours getting bottle service and lap dances. “They were nice kids. They seemed to have fun,” a source tells PEOPLE.

But before he was able to head to the club, Efron, 22, had important business to take care of first: calling girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.

“That’s the awkward part. It’s like how do you even start that conversation without feeling like a total ?” he told Kimmel. she was fine with it, yeah.”

Clarifying reports that the group dropped $2,000 on dancers, the Charlie St. Cloud star says, “No, no, not at all … I don’t remember. I don’t think I opened my wallet.”

“I’m cutting back right now – I’m trying to keep it between three and four nights a week,” he joked, before adding he’s “not really the type of guy that does that kind of thing often.”
